Hiring a security agency isn’t like ordering groceries — you’re trusting a stranger with access to your property, your employees, and sometimes your customers. Most people don’t ask enough questions before signing a contract, and by the time problems show up, it’s expensive and messy to switch providers. Here’s what we think you should actually ask, before you sign anything.

1. “Are you PSARA licensed, and can I see the certificate?”

This is non-negotiable. Any agency operating legally in India needs a valid PSARA (Private Security Agencies Regulation Act) license. If they hesitate to show you this, that’s your answer right there.

2. “How do you verify your guards before deployment?”

Ask specifically about police verification, background checks, and identity documentation. A legitimate agency does this for every single guard, not just a sample.

3. “What happens if a guard doesn’t show up for a shift?”

Guard absenteeism is one of the most common complaints we hear from businesses switching agencies. Ask about backup deployment processes — is there always a standby guard, or are you left uncovered if someone calls in sick?

4. “Can you provide references from current clients?”

A confident agency will have no issue connecting you with an existing client for a quick reference check. Hesitation here is worth noticing.

5. “What’s included in the quoted price, and what’s extra?”

Uniforms, equipment, supervisor visits, overtime rates — these sometimes get added as “extras” after the contract is signed. Get this in writing upfront so there are no surprises on your first invoice.

A bonus, honest one: “What happens if I’m not satisfied three months in?”

Ask about contract terms and exit clauses before you sign, not after you’re frustrated. A transparent agency will spell this out clearly without you having to dig for it.
